When people get wounded or injured, but don’t have access to medical care, those wounds may not heal the way they are supposed to, and increase the risk of infection, or the need for more invasive procedures in the future.
Open Door Ministries seeks to care for the injured poor of Guatemala in a timely and meaningful way. Our hope is to return people to health, making them whole again, and enabling them to go back to work and provide what they can for their families.
We offer basic medical care at our wheelchair distributions. Our nurses supply families with training and wound care supplies to prevent pressure sores which can lead to much more serious problems, including amputations. Our nurses use wound care kits purchased through MPower and train a sponsored nursing student to assist with this care.
